Bioloid Robot System

| |
| |
The Bioloid Robot System from Robotis is a modular robotics
system based around graphical programming, reconfigurable brackets, and
"smart serially controlled actuators" which are not only capable of switching
between angular positioning and full continuous rotation, but also provide
you with access to sensory feedback such as position, speed, temperature,
current draw and voltage of each servo.
What in the world does that mean?
It means that Bioloid is a remarkably powerful system that wraps up advanced
features in a user-friendly package. |
Well, what can I do with it?
The kits can be used to create many different kinds of robots, from humanoid
bipeds to multi-legged walkers, to wheeled vehicles (The
Bioloid Comprehensive Kit includes complete assembly instructions and software
examples for 26 different robots!). Not only that, thanks to the sensor-equipped
digitally controlled servos, it's like your robot has a built-in nervous
system right out of the box!
Best of all, the various construction and programming options allow your
robotic project to be as simple or complex as you want it to be.
The combination of smart actuators, flexible construction system,
graphical programming software, and comparably low price makes
the Bioloid kits some of the best on the market for hobbyists, educators,
and researchers alike! |

Several kits are available, depending on the level of complexity
you desire. We also offer a range of spare parts and accessories, so
you can upgrade and customize your kit to fit your needs. |

AX-12+ Smart Actuator Dynamixel |
The AX-12+ can act as a servo
to flex the joints of your robot; or as a continuously turning
motor to drive wheels, gears, pulleys, etc.
Each actuator
has built-in sensors for monitoring position, speed, torque, voltage,
and temperature. All of these variables can be used to influence
your robot's behavior. |

AX-S1 Sensor Module Dynamixel |
The AX-S1 Sensor Module is the eyes, ears, and voice of
your robot. It contains three IR sensors for object detection and line following,
a microphone for sound detection, and a piezo speaker for generating
tones. There is also an infra-red data transceiver, which
can be used as a remote control input, or for exchanging information
between robots. |

CM-5 Control Module |
The CM-5 Control Module is the
brain of the Bioloid system. It controls a serial network of Dynamixel
actuator and sensor modules. Programs and motions are written
on the computer, then downloaded to the CM-5. The module itself
has buttons for triggering different programs.

Composite Frame System |
To hold everything together, the Bioloid
system employs frames made from high-strength injection molded composite
plastic. All connections are made using steel screws and nuts,
ensuring solid and reliable construction. The brackets are
durable and superbly designed, fitting and connecting perfectly
to each other as well as to the AX-12's and AX-S1's supplied in
the kit.

Robot Terminal |
| Motion Editor is a 3D interface for
setting servo positions and motion sequences. Motions created in this program can be called and used
by the Behavior Control Programmer. |
Behavior Control Programmer is an
application that sets rules for the robot's behavior. You can string
together series of motions created in Motion Editor, or create looping and
branching behavior patterns based on sensor values. All of this is
achieved via a graphical sequencer interface. |
Robot Terminal is
used for lower-level management of Bioloid components, mostly for advanced users. It is a serial communication terminal
that is useful for transmitting specific commands and troubleshooting the
Dynamixel network. |
