Coils are wondrous things. With there awesome power to turn electrical energy into magnetic energy, they have endless applications. One such application is the Medium Solenoid!
Solenoids are great for when you need simple linear actuation. Just applying a voltage to the solenoid will cause the shaft to move in and out. One end of the solenoid will create a pushing motion, while the other will create a pulling motion. When you remove the voltage, the shaft will return to its initial position.
The solenoid can even be attached to a relay so that you can easily control it from your Arduino! These Arduino solenoids are easy to control, so you'll be up and running in no time. Our Arduino Solenoids also have threaded body mounting holes as well as well as threaded holes on each end of the shaft, so they're a breeze to attach to your project.
These solenoids have a wide variety of great applications. You can use them as latches and locks for doors and boxes, or you can use them to push buttons when you don't want to hack apart another project. Make your own massage chair, or build a homebrew pinball machine!
Please keep in mind that these solenoids are intended for intermittent use - leaving the solenoid on for extended periods will cause the coil to heat up and possibly damage itself.
