This encoder is designed and built specifically for BaneBots 36mm gearmotors. It mounts to the output shaft of the gearbox. All required mounting hardware and a cover is included.

It is a quadrature encoders, with two output signals. It can be used to monitor both speed and direction of rotation. Each signal is out of phase with the other, and depending on the direction of rotation, the signal will be either leading or lagging the other signal.

Power Requirements: +5VDC, +/-5%, < 20mA
Counts per revolution: 128
Signal duty Cycle: 40-60%
Max Shaft RPM: 1250

Notes:

1. The use of motor suppression capacitors is required to help reduce jitter and signal anomalies.

2. Due to manufacturing variances, we have noticed that the mounting holes do not always align correctly. You may have to make some modifications to account for this.

2. It is difficult to align a quadrature encoder without a dual-trace oscilloscope or other measurement equipment.  A rough calibration can be performed using the Phidgets Highspeed encoder interface board or any other encoder board that outputs direction of rotation.
