RobotGeek

What is RobotGeek?

The RobotGeek system is a platform for learning about and building your own Arduino Inventions. All of the RobotGeek hardware and electronic components are designed to be modular, allowing you to easily configure, customize, reconfigure and build your project. You can start with our RobotGeek Experimenter's Kits and Robot Kits or build your own custom project form the ground up. We even have a wide variety of open source demo code and tutorials to help you learn about programming your Arduino compatible microcontroller.

The RobotGeek System is so easy to use for three reasons: a unified mounting system, easy wiring, and the Arduino platform.

Mounting

The RobotGeek system is designed around the centimeter grid. This means that we've designed our I/O boards to easily mount onto any hole pattern that matches the centimer grid. Our Workbenches and robots all include this pattern. For other boards that don't align to the grid, we've built a variety of adaptor mounting plates. We also have a variety of building materials that work with the centimeter grid, like brackets, plates, nuts/bolts, standoffs and more.

Wiring

The RobotGeek Sensor Shield allows you to easily plug in different I/O boards using a simple 3/4-pin cable. This cable provides power and data to/from the Arduino. We also have a variety of adaptor cables for attaching 3rd party sensors like Grove, Phidgets Adafruit, and Sparkfun.

Arduino

Arduino is the name of an open source platform designed to aid and encourage the development of physical computing. This is accomplished using a software platform (The Arduino IDE) which can program a microcontroller (a small embedded computer), referred to ad the Arduino Hardware. Once programmed, the Arduino Hardware can act independently, taking in data through electronic sensors and reacting to that data with a variety of electronic outputs.

The RobotGeek System leverages the Arduino Platform to run your projects. You can use our RobotGeek Geekduino board, or any other Arduino compatible board like the Arduino Uno.

Who is RobotGeek for?

Arduino Experimenters

Maybe you've heard of 'Arduino' and 'Microcontrollers' but still aren't sure what they can do. Or maybe you've got an Arduino Uno and a breadboard, but you're looking for a helping hand to learn about electronics. Either way, if you're interested in learning about Arduino, then the RobotGeek system is the perfect place to start. Our modular parts and great tutorials will get you up and running in no time.

Prototypers

Are you building an awesome new prototype, but you're new to the Arduino world? Or maybe you're an Arduino Pro buy you need something a more stable than a breadboard and more flexible than a hand-soldered protoboard? The RobotGeek system make it simple to plug in whatever electronic boards you need into your Arduino board and mount everything in a clean workbench. You should be worrying the finer details of your board, not whether or not a wire connection is stable.

Educators

Our pre-packaged RobotKits and Experimenter's Kits are great for building curriculum and lesson plans about electronics, programming, and physical computing. The interactive nature of the RobotGeek system will get students excited about learning. Make sure to ask us about our educational discounts!
