The SCOUT 2.0 mobile robot platform is designed to be the base of your industrial robotic application. With low energy consumption, long battery life, compact but strong frame, and extensible software interfaces, SCOUT 2.0 is ready to handle whatever challenges you throw at it.

SCOUT 2.0 can work in outdoor and indoor environments with its powerful cooling module and real-time temperature monitoring. Slide rails on top of the mobile robot allow for easy installation of modular hardware packages and sensors. An open-source communication standard and software packages based on ROS make it easy to develop your application.

SCOUT 2.0 is a four-wheeled, differential-drive mobile robot that is rated to carry up to 50kg (110lb) with a maximum speed of 1.5m/s (3.3mph) with its 400W brushless servo motors. The standard 30Ah battery or optional 60Ah battery provides a long operation time. The robot has an IP rating of IP22, but can be customized up to IP44 and IP64.

    Software

ROS - Robot Operating System (ROS or ros) is an open-source robotics middleware suite. Although ROS is not an operating system but a collection of software frameworks for robot software development, it provides services designed for a heterogeneous computer cluster such as hardware abstraction, low-level device control, implementation of commonly used functionality, message-passing between processes, and package management.

Gazebo - Gazebo offers the ability to accurately and efficiently simulate populations of robots in complex indoor and outdoor environments. At your fingertips is a robust physics engine, high-quality graphics, and convenient programmatic and graphical interfaces. Best of all, Gazebo is free with a vibrant community. Gazebo simulation packages are provided.

CAN - A Controller Area Network (CAN bus) is a robust vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other's applications without a host computer. It is a message-based protocol, designed originally for multiplex electrical wiring within automobiles to save on copper, but it can also be used in many other contexts. SCOUT has an internal controller that runs on a CAN-based communication protocol. Users can communicate with the controller over CAN through AgileX’s open CAN bus protocol.

    Hardware

Steer-by-wire Chassis - SCOUT is a mobile robot platform designed for industrial applications. SCOUT2.0 with a remodeled structural design & a newly upgraded cooling and safety system is suitable for any application or environment. A compact design expands the variety of indoor applications & the independent suspension can adapt to rugged terrain. A turning radius of zero can easily navigate narrow environments.

Control System - SCOUT2.0 has an independent control system & can run its basic control onboard without the use of external controllers. Serial port or standard CAN bus are available to work with open-source SDK and ROS packages.

Mounting Solution - The top of the robot provides a standardized mounting solution with aluminum T-slot rails, convenient for securely mounting external equipment and sensors or one of the available preconfigured R&D or navigation kits.

Suspension - Each of SCOUT’s wheels are driven independently by a 200w brushless servo motor & have a double-wishbone suspension with shock absorbers, giving the ability to handle rough terrain while ensuring power and stability. As a result, it can easily take on up to 10cm tall obstacles.

Damage Protection - Bright front LED headlight for improved vision in darker environments. Protective Bull Bars (bumpers) on both the front and rear of the Scout 2.0 provide excellent damage protection from accidental collisions.

    Packages

Battery Upgrade (Optional) - (60Ah Expansion Battery) By default, the Scout 2.0 UGV comes with a 24v30Ah battery which allows for a maximum travel distance (without load) of 15km. With the optional 60Ah upgrade the maximum travel distance increases significantly.
